- Navarino Network
The Navarino Network screened the documentary drama ‘Mustafa’ as part of the event series ‘Navarino Mondays’.
The film dramatizes the biography of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who was born in Thessaloniki and from a poor and lonely child he not only became the most beloved person of a nation, but created a new state from the ashes of an empire. It is the first Turkish documentary that attempts to present the story of Kemal Atatürk -a soldier, prominent politician and great reformer- without stereotypes as a man with fears, weaknesses, aspirations and ideals.
The screening was followed by a brief discussion with Dr. Nikolas Raptopoulos, Lecturer at the University of Macedonia, about the personality, actions and overall role of Mustafa K. Atatürk in the creation of modern Turkey.
